The Assessment

Assessment Overview

Our comprehensive assessment process totals 3 hours which will take place over three weeks, designed to ensure a thorough and personalized evaluation for your child. Modifications can be made in a crisis situation.  Here's a breakdown of how we allocate this time:

Session Breakdown

  • Two Hours with the Child: Spread over three separate sessions to help your child feel more at ease and provide a clearer picture of their needs.

  • One Hour with Parents: A final session dedicated to discussing family history, diagnostic impressions, and treatment options.

Goals of the Assessment

  • Build Rapport: Establish a comfortable and trusting relationship with your child.

  • Gather Family History: Collect detailed information about your family's background and history.

  • Develop Diagnostic Impressions: Form initial impressions based on observations and interactions.

  • Explore Treatment Options: Discuss potential strategies and plans for your child's care.

Why Multiple Sessions?

  • Comfort and Accuracy: Many children feel nervous during their initial visit, which can affect the clarity of our assessment. By seeing your child over three sessions, we can ensure they become more comfortable, allowing for a more accurate evaluation.

  • Comprehensive Understanding: Multiple visits help us observe your child's behavior and interactions in different contexts, providing a well-rounded perspective.

Final Parent Meeting

The final hour-long session is exclusively with the parents. During this time, we will:

  • Obtain detailed family history.

  • Confirm diagnostic impressions.

  • Discuss and develop a tailored treatment plan for your child.
